A week in Mexico City // PART I

Last month, I headed to Mexico for just over a week!  I know it seems kinda crazy to go that far for such a short period of time, and yes I used to think the same (and still kinda do), but in recent times I've learnt to try not to care about things like flight costs and the time spend in transit for a short trip if you really want to do something, and this was something I REALLY wanted to do! 

I truly believe travelling if a real big part of who I am and that it [adventures near & far] greatly affects designs I create.  I love attempting to keep 'fresh' and inspired and travelling usually does the trick!   I've met so many amazing and inspiring people of my travels, and I hope that never stops.  The power of Instagram is REAL friends.  Almost everyone I have become great friends with, and those I have a genuine connection with (usually through flowers) have been those I've met via Instagram and forced myself to have the courage to reach out and make things happen.  

Anyway, back to the great land of Mexico!  

In Mexico I met up with my gal pals Alice and Jime.   Alice runs her own flower shop 'Floralista' in a cute little town in Canada, not far from Vancouver called Fort Langley and Jime is from Mexico City, she runs a floral studio from her gorgeous apartment in La Roma, Floweriize.  

Our plan was really, to just hang out, explore and attend Nicole Land & Sarah Windwards' workshop at a beautiful Hacienda a couple hours out of Mexico City - more on that in the next post promise! 

I LOVE taking photos, especially when I travel so that's the main reason for this post.  I wanted to share the beauty of this adventure!   These snaps here are from the first couple of days in the city.  Jime took us to the coolest plant market - I'm taking streets filled with market stalls that were packed with pretty and interesting plants.  There's also a taco stall here and there, so that's ALWAYS a good thing! 

After the market, we went off to the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco... I'd never heard of this place before and I'm so glad we went!  It was amazing!   We got a Mariachi band to play us a few songs whilst floating down the canals and 'enjoyed' a beer - (I dont actually like beer but I felt it was appropriate at the time & that's all that had!).
